The school environment can provide many opportunities for the child with an attachment disorder to fail. These children usually have poor social skills, are defiant towards authority, have poor cause and effect thinking, do not learn from their mistakes, are manipulative and impulsive, lie and steal to just name a few of the symptoms that can disrupt the educational process. The first step to take in learning how to provide the best educational structure and process is to educate yourself about attachment disorder. The next step is to have a meeting of the educationsl staff, professionals, support workers and parents to discuss what the child’s needs are and how to meet these needs.
